Juneteenth Discovery Day At The Augusta Museum of History
Honor The Past, Celebrate The Future
The Augusta Museum of History (AMH) is excited to host the Annual Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 21st, 2025 from 10:00 – 5:00. Funded in part by the Porter Fleming Foundation.
On June 19, 1865, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas were told they were free. A century and a half later, people across the United States continue to celebrate the day, which is now a federal holiday.
We will celebrate with a number of activities for everyone, including performances, special readings, documentary screenings, crafts, scavenger hunts and more! All activities that take place in the Museum Rotunda and Garden City Room are free to attend, documentary screenings, scavenger hunts and Voices Of The Past Performances require general admission pricing.
Events in the Rotunda are free. Museum Admission: $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for children ages 6 to 18 and free for children 5 and under. Museum Members have free admission.
We will have a variety of activities exploring the meaning of freedom and engaging in African American cultural traditions.
