Description

Rectangular charcoal painting of Louise de l'Aigle Seyd Reese. This portrait shows Louise from the waist up turning to face the viewer over her right shoulder. She is wearing a light colored dress with a swooping neckline, a pearl necklace and drop earrings. She has short curly hair and gently arched eyebrows. The handwriting on the top right corner reads "Louise de l'Aigle Seyd / Wife of / Robert Grigg Reese, M.D.".

This painting was formerly displayed with several other family portraits in the Sexton's Lodge of Magnolia Cemetery. Louise funded the construction of the Sexton's Lodge in honor of her de l'Aigle (DeLaigle) family.
