Description

Set of nine (9) Civil War muster rolls. These rolls were part of the collection from Texas Cavalry soldier Gilbert Lafayette Macmurphy. Macmurphy served as 2nd Lieutenant of the Texas Cavalry's 8th Regiment Company H. This regiment was also known as Terry's Texas Rangers.

The muster rolls include a list of all active, sick, deceased, and AWOL members of the company. They also include the battles fought, the materials lost during battle, the pay, and the location of their recruitment. The muster rolls are large cotton-rag paper and printed with columns and lined. All names and personnel information are handwritten in pencil and in ink.
