Dr. James C. Carter III

Who were Willie Sims, Beau Jack, Arthur Lee Simpkins and Eloise Uggams and what impact did these dynamic personalities have on Augusta?

The Augusta Museum of History will present its next monthly Brown Bag History Series on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at 12:00 p.m.  The speaker will be Dr. James C. Carter III and his topic will be Athletics and the Arts in the Afro-American Community. Dr. Carter’s talk will focus on the contributions of the black community in Augusta athletics and arts.

A native of Augusta, Dr. James Carter is a retired administrator of the Medical College of Georgia. He serves on numerous boards, committees and commissions.

The Brown Bag History Series program is free to members, $3 for non-members and reservations are required.  Bring your lunch and the museum will provide the beverage and dessert. Please call (706) 722-8454 for reservations by Tuesday, February 6, 2007.

The Augusta Museum of History is located at 560 Reynolds Street in downtown Augusta. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; and Sunday 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Admission is: Adult: $4•Senior: $3•Child: (6-18) $2-(5and under) Free
